Named after the Barry Family who were very prominent in the area in the 19th century, Barrydale is a wonderful example of a Cape Country Village. Although the scenic Route 62 passes through the top of the village, it has done little to spoil the peace and tranquility of the country town.

It is a mere 2.5 hours from Cape Town on the R62 - one of the worlds longest and finest Wine Routes. To pass through Barrydale,  without stopping for a glass of cool Barrydale wine, or without even spending an evening in the village, exploring the fine examples of old cottages - some once built for "nagmaal" - would really be a shame!

Some of the most beautifully cutivated  gardens  await exploring,  with spectacular displays of roses in the village next to the vineyards.
