Piketberg is 125 km
North of Cape Town on the N7 route and lies at the foot of
the Piquet Mountains. It is about an hours drive from the
West Coast. It stands alone in the middle of undulating
fields of wheat, green vineyards, partly fallow land and
flowering yellow canola.
The mountain range is unique as it stands as an island with
Piketberg as its main town on its eastern slopes, the
village of Aurora on the west and Redelinghuys to the north.
The perfect way to
view the whole town and surrounding areas is to take a trip
up Versveld pass to the top of the mountain where you will
drive through acres comprising of apple, pears, peach and
orange trees. On the way up you will have the scent of wild
rosemary and will see many yellow Waboom and pink Nerifolia
Proteas. You will not want to leave this beautiful area.
Spend a few days exploring and stay at one of the
guesthouses and be refreshed in spirit.
